All the major releases that targeted the Telugu box office for the 2023 Sankranthi are out in the market now. Starting with Balayya’s Veera Simha Reddy and Megastar Chiru’s Waltair Veerayya, we have Vijay’s Varasudu and Santosh Shoban’s Kalyanam Kamaneeyam hitting cinemas. Usually, at least one of the movies excites the audience to the core and wins the cup at the box office. But it looks like, this time audience is not fortunate enough.
While fans are blowing whistles and enjoying these two films, definitely Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy are just routine movies that have mass commercial content that doesn’t appeal to the audience who love to watch different cinema or want to have a great cinematic experience. At the same time, Varasudu and Kalyanam Kamaneeyam also sounded pretty routine, while Vijay’s movie is full of nostalgia for the Telugu audience as we have seen similar content many times, Santosh Shoban’s movie is more like an extended short film.
That said, we could conclude that this is a routine Sankranthi for the Telugu box office without any fireworks or excitement. None of the big stars, big heroes, young filmmakers or anyone have scored a major victory at the box office, though everyone is holding success meets and mobilising the audience towards theatres.
