Former couple Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have acted together in a bunch of films, and out of them, “Majili” is one of the biggest hits. The movie has a great entry scene for Samantha during the interval and the rest of the film literally ran on her shoulders as she amazed the audience with her terrific performance. At the same time, Chay also stole the hearts of movie lovers with his broken lover and drunkard husband role.
Guess what, when the songs of the Marathi movie “Ved” got released, many fans of Samantha were not impressed with the way Genelia D’Souza reprised the role in that Marathi remake of Majili movie.
But the box office in Maharashtra is something else, as “Ved” has now emerged as the second highest-grossing Marathi movie after Sairat after it collected nearly ₹44+ crores in a three-week run. And the film is refusing to slow down with trade pundits estimating that it might touch ₹70 crores mark easily, shattering many records.
While Genelia reprised Samantha’s role, her husband Ritesh Deshmukh has done Naga Chaitanya’s role in this movie. Catchy songs, a terrific background score and lovely visuals have made “Ved” such a stunning hit at the Marathi box office.
At a time when other remakes of South films are not working in Bollywood, both Drishyam 2 and Ved proved that a rightly made remake will do wonders. Now Ritesh Deshmukh might look at more Telugu movies for a quick remake.
