Varisu (Vaarasudu) has been facing criticism from the day the trailer of the movie was released. It later grew bigger to trolls after the movie was released. Many on social media commented that the Varisu is a mix of many movies and the Tamil reviewers denounced it comparing the movie to a soap serial.
The director Vamshi Paidipally is not happy with the ‘serial’ comparisons. In a recent interview, Vamshi Paidipally expressed his anguish against those comments. He ridiculed the serial comments, asking if they know how difficult is to make a movie these days.
‘Do you know how much hard work is there behind each movie? This is not a joke. Vijay is one of India’s biggest stars. He works hard for every movie even being in that position. For a movie, a hero, producer, other artists, and technicians had to sacrifice many things. How could you compare a movie to a serial? And why do you have to look down on serials? Serials are also a part of creative work and we have to respect them. Don’t you know how many in a family get glued to serials during the evenings? I have come here to become a filmmaker by giving up my software job. I am in this position now and I know what I am. If I take these comments to heart, I would be disrespecting my profession. The criticism should be constructive, but not like this,‘ said Vamshi Paidipally.
Meanwhile, the Tamil trolls and Twitterati is bringing up one of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s comments from an old post that says, ‘It is irrelevant to the audience how hard we worked for a movie. The justice for their ticket is important.’
