Even though both Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy get mixed reviews by most of the critics, both the movies grossed more than ₹100+ crores in just 3-4 days. That brings us to the question, why these two movies work out in the first place? In fact, Dhamaka should also join this list as the film got blasted by critics but worked well at the box office.
Though most of the Telugu audience got addicted to OTT platforms and international content these days, it looks like still they are longing for these mass films too. And if big stars like Chiru, Balayya and Raviteja come up with mass films that will have terrific fights, good dance numbers and a bit of comedy, then surely Telugu movie lovers will watch them. That’s what one could analyse about the current situation. However, the massive collections could be attributed only to the Sankranthi holidays.
If not for the holiday season, surely these two films would have not seen such a massive flow of revenues at the box office. Any other day would have made them average grosser, but not a superhit bonanza. However, the success of a movie always depends on the timing of the release and it looks like both Chiru and Balayya got that right.
On the other hand, we could also say that the epic clash between these two heroes resulted in such terrific attention, and the audience watched them both to find out which is best. But that became best for the producers in terms of collections.
