Hombale Films, the production house known for hit films like Kantara and K.G.F, has revealed plans for a prequel to the popular Kannada film Kantara. The writer, director, and lead actor of the original film, Rishab Shetty, has confirmed that he is currently working on the script for the prequel.
The original Kantara film was highly successful, both financially and critically, and it has become a favorite among audiences. The story is deeply rooted in the mythological stories and folklore of remote parts of Karnataka and it tells the story of a conflict between villagers and a forestry department officer over the protection of a local deity in the jungle.
The prequel will delve into the backstory of the deity, exploring its past and the deal it made with a regional king. While it is not yet confirmed whether Rishab Shetty will reprise his role in the new film, there will be new characters introduced.
Kantara is a huge hit across the nation. The film was released in multiple languages at the pan-Indian level. Naturally, the expectations on the second part will be more. We will have to see if the film will live up to the expectations.
