RRR achieved not only Golden Globe nominations, but a Golden Globe award as well for Best Original Song, and then Critics Choice Awards as well as NY Film Critics Circle, honoured the film with Best International Movie award.
At the same time, a legendary filmmaker like James Cameron hailed the movie as a terrific narrative. But then, RRR hasn’t even got nominated in the Best Non-English film category at popular BAFTA awards. Wonder why?
In fact, right now the internet is buzzing that the English folks haven’t nominated RRR like their American counterparts because they took the film very seriously.
As everyone knows, the story of the film is against the British and portrays the brutality of the imperial rule in India. As the protagonists just take on the British governor and kill him in the end, the whole narrative might have hurt the egos of the British folks, and they might have not liked the idea of nominating the film which is against their own people.
But then, India’s freedom struggle and achieving Independence happened a long back and there is no point in British folks still being upset with this great nation of the sub-continent.
Not only India overtook the UK in terms of GDP, but also some top Indian companies are already buying out many original English companies now. At this moment, there is no point in hating a film like RRR.
