In Bollywood lots of big directors are actually creating content for OTTs but in Telugu, not many star directors are doing it.
After the likes of Krish, Nag Ashwin and some other young directors like Tarun Bhaskar failed to craft the right content for OTT platforms, even the big streaming platforms are also not running after them. However, some say that big Telugu directors are not interested in OTTs for a reason.
Explaining the reason why many big directors won’t approach the content heads of Telugu OTT platforms or some national apps, director Harish Shankar made some noticeable comments.
“The so called content heads of OTTs are enjoying their designation, not the content. No matter how big a director you are, you have to go to their office and wait for hours to narrate them an idea. We are passionate filmmakers and could wait, but you should change your ways too”, commented Harish Shankar.
He has also added that creating content for OTTs doesn’t fetch them huge money as films do, but still they would love to do that.
Wonder why? “Though we know that we don’t have much financial benefit here, we are enjoying the lack of limitations and creative liberty in the OTT arena. All those who acted in the Mayabazaar movie died, but the film remained. We are not permanent, but cinema is permanent”, he further added.
