Shaakuntalam is Samantha and Gunasekhar’s most ambitious and eagerly awaited film which is aimed in having a massive theatrical release in all major languages. While the film is slated for release on Feb 17th, it’s clashing with Dhanush’s SIR. Even as this clash is unwanted and not resolved between the producers, Shaakuntalam got yet another shocker.
SRK and Deepika Padukone’s Pathaan is continuing its rampage at the Box Office. The action thriller is already shattering the records. Amidst this, Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada (Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Hindi remake) which is slated for 10th February release is postponed to 17th February. With this, it’s going to impact the theatres of Samantha’s Shaakuntalam. It may not be a big release for Samantha in Hindi, yet the distributors and exhibitors in North are going to keep the chunk of theatres for Shehzada and Pathaan. So, this is going to be a drastic effect on Shaakuntalam.
As per the sources, the makers of Shaakuntalam are planning to postpone the film. Though the official decision is not yet made, but the makers are in confusion about release date and mulling all the options. Even the third song launch of Shaakuntalam which was supposed to happen today was postponed adding fuel to ongoing rumours. If Shaakuntalam gets postponed, it will be a huge advantage for Dhanush’s Sir that is based on education system. We have to wait and see.
