Other day, with legendary director K Viswanath buried at Punjagutta Graveyard, two main debates have rocked the Telugu social media circuits. While one of them is why the director is buried but not cremated, and the other one is why Telangana State hasn’t given any official state honour, at least the 21-gun salute to him.
Well, for the question that why he’s buried but not created, that happens to be a caste culture as a sect of Shaivaites in Brahmins will be buried inside the earth such that the ’shiva lingam’ they wear wouldn’t get scorched.
Coming to the state honours part, none knows why K Viswanath didn’t got it, but some say that the Telangana Government has stopped giving such honours as politics is being weaved around it. Ever since they gave state honours to the last Nizam who expired recently, people have criticised them a lot.
For that reason, TS didn’t give state honours to Jamuna as well in recent times, though they have given it for Kaikala Satyanarayana. However, some say that the political affiliations of these stars are determining whether they would get a state funeral or not. Anyway, movie artists will be there etched in the hearts of people forever, so a state honour doesn’t really matter.
