Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally made his Tamil debut this year with Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu. Though it couldn’t succeed in Telugu, it became a super hit in Tamil. The main reason for its success is not the story or execution but Vijay’s stardom and Pongal festive season advantage.
Many people who watched the film felt that it was routine, slow and stereotypical like a TV serial. But Vijay’s stardom and the holiday season advantage pulled audiences to the theatres.
If the latest grapevine is anything to go by, Vijay gave word to Vamshi for another film. Apparently, he asked Vamshi to come up with a good script. If he likes the story, it will be his 69th film. It is heard that Vijay was impressed by the way how Vamshi balanced commercial and family aspects in Varisu. That is the reason why he gave him another chance.
At this time, no top hero in Telugu is ready to give dates to Vamshi as they are busy with multiple projects. So, this is a good offer for him. But Vijay will only do it if he likes the story. So, we have to see what kind of a story will Vamshi narrate to Vijay for this movie.
As of now, Vijay has Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo and Atlee’s untitled project in the pipeline. He is busy till 2024-25. So, Vamshi has an ample amount of time to come up with a good story. Fans are hoping that he narrates a good subject this time rather than coming up with another stereotypical family entertainer like Varisu.
