Even though he is doing films on a trot, young hero Santosh Shoban is yet to score a decent hit in his career. Poor story choices, horrible release date selections and terrible promotional strategies are affecting him badly. Last month, he joined the Sankranthi race with his film Kalyanam Kamaneeyam. It got washed away in the wave of Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy.
Now, he came with his new outing Sridevi Shobanbabu. Even this time, he decided to take on big films like Sir and Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha. Although it was produced by Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita Konidela, the film wasn’t promoted at all. Thus, it depended heavily on the word of mouth.
Sridevi Shobanbabu hit the screens yesterday on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. It is not a new-age story. It is a rehash version of old films like Ninne Pelladutha.
The story is about two broken families and how the marriage of the lead actors reunites those families. We have been seeing these kinds of films for ages. Even the screenplay is routine. Thus, the film bores the audience to death.
One would wonder how Sushmita okayed this subject in the first place. On the whole, Sridevi Shobanbabu managed to garner negative talk and ended up as another disaster for Santosh Shoban.
