Will The Pan-India ‘Japam’ Of Telugu Heroes Work?

Published by

Baahubali started the trend of pan-India films in the country. Especially, this trend is being followed more by Tollywood heroes. After Prabhas, the likes of Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan got nationwide stardom. Now, Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan are also trying to expand their market with pan-India films.

Meanwhile, tier-2 and tier-3 heroes are also following the same route. After scoring a hit with Karthikeya 2 in Hindi, young her Nikhil Siddhartha is coming up with another pan-India film Spy. This movie is slated for a summer release.

Natural Star Nani’s next film Dasara is going to have a wide release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. Akkineni scion Akhil is also entering the pan-India race with his next film Agent, which is being directed by Surender Reddy.

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja will be joining the pan-India competition with his upcoming big-budget project Tiger Nageswara Rao.

Apart from these heroes, the likes of Ram Pothineni, Nithiin, Sharwanand, and Siddhu Jonnalagadda are also showing interest to release their films across the nation in multiple languages.

Barring upcoming heroes like Suhaas and Kiran Abbavaram, all other noted Telugu actors seem to be joining this pan-India race.

Yes, the language barrier has been shut down these days but releasing every other film on a pan-India scale is a not good idea. Unless or until the film has a universal appeal, it cannot do well in various languages. At the same time, some Bollywood filmmakers and critics are intentionally trying to brainwash their audience about showing less interest in South films.

For instance, we have recently witnessed director Rohit Shetty making comments about South films that they are not bigger than Hindi films. At the same time, the pan-India mantra can not work all the time and most of the time, it just happens naturally. So instead of running after it, if we focus on our content and stay rooted as much as possible, the film will definitely click. Kantara is an example for the same.

On that note, let’s see if the above-mentioned films have that pan-India appeal and it also has to be seen how many of our heroes will succeed in getting pan-India stardom.
