Whatever the situation, whatever the meeting that they have actually convened for, these days, some Telugu Film Industry seniors can’t stop criticising SS Rajamouli’s RRR, and his previous works like Baahubali. Unfortunately, senior producer-director Tammareddy Bharadwaja is one of them. His comments on RRR’s Oscar campaign budget have once again turned viral on the internet.
Other day, while attending a short film festival at a theatre in Hyderabad, Tammareddy advised the aspiring filmmakers and writers at the place to first write their stories and then focus on the budget. He asked them not to write stories keeping a high budget in mind. “My vision is to write a story and then lock a budget. Of course, there are those like Rajamouli who planned a ₹200 crores project and saw success too. I’m not saying I’m wrong, but they have succeeded”, said Tammareddy Bharadwaja at that meeting.
At the same time, he also stated that the makers of RRR have spent crores of rupees on the Oscar campaign. “They’ve spent nearly ₹80 Cr on the Oscar campaign. If that budget is given to you (aspiring filmmakers in the audience), you would have made 10 films and tossed them on their faces. But that’s their money their wish. So you write a story and approach someone like a Dil Raju or Bol Raju to make it into a film” he further articulated.
Well, if those so-called ₹ 80 crores is really used to make 10 films by these aspiring filmmakers, it’s not sure if it will turn into a profitable venture or if someone will make a classic of it. But the same money being spent for the Oscar campaign will ensure not only international fame for the movie but opens new doors for Indian films in Hollywood. Why can’t people like Tammareddy think forward with a vision, rather making comments on trending topics such that they will go viral?
