Usually, legendary director Rajamouli’s family members pour all their hard work and creative intelligence into the filmmaker’s projects but they don’t get outside the perimeter of those big projects. Only Keeravani, who debuted as a music composer even before the name Rajamouli is known and his younger brother Kalyani Malik, also a music director, do work outside.
Kalyani Malik is composing music for two decades and delivered some enchanting albums like Andhrudu, Ala Modalaindi and Oohalu Gusagusalade. However, the composer is feeling that Tollywood hasn’t given him the needed break as his soulful, soothing and melodious compositions haven’t got the required attention and appreciation. He changed his name to Kalyan Koduri, Kalyana Ramana and back to Kalyani Malik for astrological, numerological and luck factors, still, nothing worked in his favour.
But unexpectedly, his latest soothing work scored for Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi is getting appreciation from many quarters. A couple of songs and the trailer music are actually getting discussed vividly across social media right now.
However, for music critics, while the songs and BGM scored by Kalyani Malik are not-so-terrific like an Ilayaraja’s creation or AR Rahman’s magical tunes, these simple melodies amidst Thaman and DSP’s loud music are sounding like a relief.
