Decoding Venkatesh’s image after Rana Naidu

Senior actor Venkatesh has a ‘family man’ image among Telugu audiences. He amassed a large fanbase with his family-oriented films. So, whenever Venky Mama’s film hits the screens, people would want to watch it with their family members.

This time, he wanted to get out of his usual comfort zone and experiment a bit. Thus, he signed Rana Naidu with his nephew Rana Daggubati. This action thriller web series premiered on Netflix a couple of days ago.

Right from its promotions, Venky and Rana requested the audience not to watch the series with family members as it contains explicit content and language. However, the audience started criticizing both heroes after the show’s release, especially Venky, for choosing such a subject.

Venkatesh already stated that he wanted to experiment with his choices and that was the reason for signing Rana Naidu. But audiences have a certain image in their mind and they are expecting the same kind of films from him. That might be the reason why they couldn’t digest watching him in such a series.

Maybe, his ‘family guy’ image is to be blamed. This might be the case even if other senior stars like Nagarjuna or Balakrishna did this role because the Telugu audiences are not used to seeing their favourite heroes in these kinds of shows.
