Music composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose have scripted history in Indian Cinema as the duo’s song Naatu Naatu has been adjudged as the Best Original Song at the Oscars 2023. In this backdrop, the duo’s journey is interesting. This dates back to the times of 1996 where Keeravani and Chandrabose first collaborated for Pelli Sanadi.
Chandrabose turned lyricist with 1995 movie Taj Mahal which was scored by MM Sreelekha, sister of MM Keeravani. But Pelli Sandadi, their first ever joint work proved to be a big success. This made Keeravani and Chandrabose a successful combo. The combo delivered chartbusters like Bombayi Priyudu or Jr NTR’s Student No.1. The song, ‘Ekkado Putti Ekkado Periigi’ from Student No.1 was again a chartbuster and is a regular song at all the farewell functions in colleges even today.
Okato Number Kurradu, Ee Abbayi Chala Manchodu, Gangotri are few other films from the long list of this hit combination. RRR’s Naatu Naatu becomes the top achievement. The song won the the Golden Globe Awards at 80th Golden Globes for the song in Best Original Song category and he won the Academy Award at 95th Academy Awards for the same song under Best Original Song. Thus, both Keeravani and Chandrabose have scripted the history internationally. The song was choreographed by Prem Rakshit and the song was sung by Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.
