On this date, last year, the magnum opus ‘RRR’ had hit theatres worldwide and the rest was history. The film went on to collect Rs 1200 crore at the box office and emerged one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema and Telugu film industry history. But no one anticipated that ‘RRR’ would go all the way to the Oscars and win an award.
Director SS Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya who was the line producer of ‘RRR’ shared his working experience on the film’s one year completion. Taking to social media, Karthikeya shared his emotions but his note was more about the song ‘Naatu Naatu.’
“Cut back to 2017: the very idea of featuring two of the country’s biggest stars in one film sparked immense excitement in me and among everyone. Among the number of mind-bending sequences in the movie, one sequence which stood out and created a wave across the globe is ‘Naatu Naatu,” stated Karthikeya who was psyched out of his mind when Rajamouli narrated the whole set-up.
Karthikeya credited choreographer Prem Rakshit master who composed more that 120 variations for this song. “Their (Jr NTR and Ram Charan) blazing dance, the magical choreography, the pulsating music and the overall vibe, the way all elements complemented each other, made us believe that the theatres were going to be on fire. Without a doubt!” added Karthikeya.
Like all Karthikeya never anticipated that the song would be such a rage especially in the West. He thanked people who helped ‘Naatu Naatu’ song reach the Oscars and eventually bagged the Best Original Song award.
Lastly Karthikeya thanked the producer Danayya, cameraman Senthil Kumar and other technicians involved in ‘RRR’ for giving their best for the film. Karthikeya concluded that he will carry pride with humility and make the nation more proud.
