One of the biggest controversies that happened last year was nothing but the colour of the spicy bikini that star-heroine Deepika Padukone wore. When the song “Besharam Rang” from Pathaan got released, Deepika’s tanned bikini look became a sort of discussion. However, the right-wingers got hurt that she wore Orange coloured bikini, as the color happens to be a cultural and religious tone. That led to even #Boycott calls against the film.
Neither the film’s hero Shahrukh Khan, heroine Deepika Padukone nor the director Siddharth Anand has spoken a word about this controversy earlier. They have actually cancelled all the promotional events of the film, fearing that might sabotage the box office prospects of the film. Now that the film collected nearly ₹1100 crores worldwide in its long run, director Siddharth Anand opened up on the orange-colored bikini controversy.
“For a song that’s being shot in Spain where the background is full of green and blue, we thought orange colour would pop out, and picked it up, as we do with any other colour. And these people calling for boycotts don’t understand that a film’s result is directly tied to 100s of crores of investment as well as lives of 1000s of people” said Siddharth. This is the first time anyone from the team commented about the Orange bikini controversy.
