KGF is a film franchise that only Prashant Neel could make it work and already the two parts of the film are highly successful. However, to date, as the film clicked well in all the tinsel towns including that of original Kannada and Telugu as well as Hindi, none thought of remaking it. But then, this acclaimed director is not remaking it, but making another film on KGF, and here is the surprise.
Pa Ranjith is now making a movie on KGF aka Kolar Gold Fields with none other than acting genius Vikram in the lead. The teaser was released in October last year and the title is Thangalaan. Unlike Prashant Neel who has created Rocky Bhai character and completely fictionalised the content, this time Pa Ranjith will be making a realistic depiction of how KGF mines used to run under the British and the atrocities meted at the Indian workers.
KGF is actually located on the border of Tamilnadu and Karnataka, and the Tamil Cholas have ruled the KGF area for centuries. Even today, many Tamil-origin people and Tamil customs as well as temples were present in KGF-related townships and places.
Reports are coming that Pa Ranjith will be exploring that aspect of the once popular goldmines that were shut down now. However, how far people will be patronising this version of KGF is to be seen.
