Sometimes it will be surely tough to understand why certain films work at the box office. For example, recently we have seen Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan minting ₹1000+ croes from the box office, but the Telugu audience never really liked the film and they are wondering how such humongous numbers are registered at the box office. Here is a similar shocker from OTT now.
Apparently, Yami Gautam’s Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, which is being streamed on Netflix, has outshined both RRR and Gangubhai Kathiawadi, in terms of viewership. According to the official numbers, this Hindi film recorded nearly 29 million hours worldwide in its two-week run on the streaming site. In the same two weeks time, RRR clocked 25.5 million hours of viewership while Alia Bhatt’s Gangubhai fetched 22.1 million viewing hours. One wonders why this boring film, at least for the Telugu audience, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga has registered such big numbers.
For most Telugu audiences, the film’s last hour sounded pretty routine revenge drama while the initial highs like the romance between an air hostess and a businessman going haywire, and the way they plot to steal diamonds from the airborne plane have impressed a bit. However, the film is pretty average and none would expect that it is going to top the Netflix charts and topple RRR in the first place.
