Very few movies from the South were able to make an impact on the Bollywood box office in recent times. RRR, Kantara, and Karthiekya 2 were so exceptional performers at ticket counters in North that they made the Bollywood actors envious.
Post Kantara no South movie became a hit at Bollywood Box Office. Nani’s Dasara which was released in five languages and performed very well in Telugu states is also not an exception. It is not just the content, but also the connectivity and relativity that should turn the heads of the Hindi audience.
A bunch of ‘Pan-India’ movies are coming out every alternate week from now. Samantha’s Shaakuntalam is coming this weekend and Mani Ratnam’s PS 2 will be released by this month’s end. And then Agent is coming on coming on the same date as PS2, April 28. Prashanth Varma’s HanuMan is set for release on May 12.
All the movies mentioned above have content that Bollywood audiences also could get connected to. It only depends on the execution and the exciting factors in these films that could steal a good spot at the Bollywood Box office. In the movies coming out in next few weeks, Samantha has got an edge over the others due to her Bollywood fame after The Family Man 2 and Citadel. Along with that, Shaakuntalam is a mythological story that the whole nation can connect to. Also, the superhero concept of HanuMan may attract some audience due to the super hero concept and also the godly connect like Karthikeya 2 had.
Agent is an action movie and PS1 has already made its presence felt making the ground ready for PS2. It has to be seen if there is a lucky one in these four that makes some noise at the B-town box office or even repeat the magic of Kantara.
