Published by

Tamil film director N Lingusamy, who is quite popular for films like Pandem Kodi, Awara and The Warrior, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in a cheque bounce case filed by producer and financier PVP.

According to reports, PVP’s PVP Capital Ltd had lent money to Lingusamy and his brother Subash Chandra Bose’ production company Thirrupathi Brothers in 2014. A cheque of 1.03 crore issued by Thirrupathi Brothers had bounced. With this, PVP had filed a cheque bounce case against Lingusamy in 2022.

In this cheque fraud case filed by PVP, a metropolitan magistrate court in Saidapet, Chennai sentenced Lingusamy to six months imprisonment. The order was issued on August 22, 2022, but Lingusamy filed an appeal.

On April 12, 2023, the Madras Principal Sessions Court upheld the 6-month jail sentence imposed by the Saidapet court on director Lingusamy. Now, Lingusamy has to serve the six month jail term.

Earlier during the metropolitan court’s verdict, N Lingusamy had issued a statement. “The dispute is between PVP capitals and our production house Thirrupathi Brothers film media private limited. The honorable court ruled today on the petition they have filed. We will appeal against this order and legally face the issue.”

Lingusamy has been going through some financial problems. His recent films have failed to work at the Box Office pushing him into financial woes. His last directorial with Ram Pothineni The Warriorr had failed in Telugu and Tamil.
