In the last 10 years, director Gunasekhar came up with only one film. He is now coming up with Shaakuntalam, which is hitting the screens tomorrow. That means, he made only two movies in the last decade and both of them are female-oriented big-budget projects. But now, he seems to be on a plan to block Icon Star Allu Arjun for a prestigious project.
Going into the past, Rudhramadevi featured Anushka Shetty in the titular role. Rana Daggubati played a supporting character in the movie and Icon Star Allu Arjun played an important role. Their presence helped the movie in getting big openings. On the whole, Rudhramadevi ended up as an average venture at the box office.
After its release, Gunasekhar announced Hiranyakasipa with Rana. But this movie failed to hit the floors. It was reported that the makers put it on hold as the movie is meant to be made on large scale and they need more time for it. Later, it was speculated that Gunasekhar is not a part of the project anymore.
In the meantime, Gunasekhar started Shaakuntalam with Samantha. As it is a female-oriented film, no Telugu star hero showed interest in doing the role of King Dushyanta. Gunasekhar himself revealed the same and said that as no Telugu hero was interested in doing the film, he had to choose Malayalam actor Dev Mohan. He also added that only Allu Arjun has the caliber to give his nod to a supporting role, and no other Telugu star hero can do supporting roles in female-oriented scripts.
With this statement, Gunasekhar expressed his respect and admiration for Bunny. At the same time, Gunasekhar made sure Allu Arha’s debut shapes out well, and everyone who saw the film’s special premier thinks that Arha will be a special attraction of the film. If it really works out, Allu Arjun might give attention to Gunasekhar if the director has a subject.
So, people are wondering if he is planning to make his next film with Allu Arjun because the fate of his film with Rana still remains unknown.
