Though some film lovers expect senior director Gunasekhar to light up the silver screen big time with Samantha’s Shaakuntalam, the lack of proper promotions in Telugu has created doubts that the content might not have touched the mark.
Proving that other day the first-day first-show talk emerged within no time and the film is likely to end up as a below-average farer. So, what is going wrong with the director is worth discussing.
Once upon a time in Tollywood, even before the likes of SS Rajamouli arrived, Gunasekhar created mind-blowing interval blocks in movies like Choodalani Vundi, Okkadu, and Sainikudu. Creating a breezy love story that runs quite magically on the silver screen is actually the director’s forte, then comes the stunning action sequences that will have many surprising elements.
However, Gunasekhar kept all of those traits aside and started doing stuff like Varudu, Nippu, Rudramadevi and Shaakuntalam. All these movies are not only missing those breezy love stories but also the creative action elements too.
On the other hand, not many Telugu directors who are actually super talented, have understood the need to deliver quality visual effects in the right way. That’s why when these directors attempt to do VFX and CG-based movies, they are failing to impress the audiences. Gunasekhar has done it twice already, and it is better to stop doing it.
