India’s two of the most loved OTT platforms are none other than Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. These two are the main competitors for each other while Hotstar stands in the next place. Guess what, Amazon and Netflix often compete with each other to make content, and they end copying the themes from each other.
Recently Netflix released the movie “Cargo” which features Vikrant Massey and Swetha Tripathi in the leads. The film is all about how dead people actually go to a spaceship in the outer space of Earth and wait for re-incarnation from there. Earlier we have seen Amazon’s super stunning web series “Upload” which has a similar concept where the dead will have the option of going to a virtual world and live there. Though the stories are bit different, the themes are pretty much similar.
Back then when Netflix rolled out the super ‘Sacred Games’, the story of the rise and fall of a gangster who turns out to be the most wanted in Mumbai, Amazon is quick to come up with “Mirzapur’, which is also a similar rugged story with lots of nudity and expletives. No doubt, the two OTTs always love to pull each other’s leg by coming up with similar stuff.
And we have producers like star heroine Anushka Sharma who are producing content for both the platforms. She came up with Paatal Lok for Amazon Prime and Bulbul for Netflix.
