Back To Back Forgettable Weekends For Tollywood

Published by

The films from the last two weeks have seen a big rejection from the audience. The Friday releases this week are still struggling at the box office.

Shaakuntalam takes a low opening despite Samantha’s factor. The film failed to generate any buzz with its promos and songs. It could not rise above the disastrous reports from early shows on day 1. The weak story and the inept execution left Shaakuntalam as a soulless movie.

The other movie released this week is Lawrence’s Rudrudu, which is being panned by critics and audiences alike. Known for his routine masala movies, Lawrence has doubled the dose in Rudhrudu.

The previous week’s releases Meter and Ravanasura too turned out to be duds. Ravanasura came up as a thriller with Raviteja in the grey-shaded role, but that did not help the predictable and age-old plot. And needless to say, Kiran Abbavaram’s Meter ended up as the biggest disaster in recent times. These four films gave two back-to-back forgettable weekends for Tollywood.

The last hit we have is Nani’s Dasara, which was released on March 30.
