Legendary director Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project Ponniyin Selvan is made in two parts. The first part, PS-1, was released in September last year. Though it was a blockbuster in Tamil, the film failed to do well in the rest of the languages.
Most of the people felt that the makers didn’t promote the movie well in the rest of India and that is the main reason why people from other parts of the country didn’t show interest in watching it. Now, the same mistake is being repeated in the case of the second part.
Ponniyin Selvan’s part 2 is slated for a worldwide release on April 28. Once again, the film has failed to create any buzz apart from the Tamil diaspora. Only two weeks left for its release and still, no one really knows about it.
Already, the first part became a financial loss venture in all other languages except Tamil. Now, as there are no promotions, people are wondering what will be the fate of PS-2 in non-Tamil regions. We have to wait till April 28th to know the answer.
Ponniyin Selvan features Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai and Trisha in the main roles. AR Rahman composed the music for it.
