Okkadu Vs Ghilli Debate Getting Bigger

Published by

Tamil superstar Vijay has been trying hard to establish himself in Telugu with back-to-back releases and there were even reports that he signed in for yet another direct Telugu film. In the last few days, Vijay’s dances and songs from old movies are going viral on social media. The reason is they are all remakes of popular Telugu movies and most Telugu audiences are shocked to see them.

Triggering a debate about the same, a Twitter handle showered praises on Vijay’s Ghilli as the movie marked its 19th anniversary recently. Not just saying that it is good, but it says Ghilli is better than the Telugu original Okkadu of Mahesh Babu. It started a debate with long chains of tweets on which is better, the original or the remake. Tamil audiences obviously debate that the Tamil movie is better, Telugu audience and neutral audience opine that Ghilli is ‘overacted’ just like many other remakes Vijay did.

Now the debate is getting deeper with all the remakes brought into it. Vijay did Thammudu, Athadu, Pokiri, Chatrapati, and the Telugu audience are bringing up the comparisons between the identical scenes of our stars and Vijay.

Though the Tamil audience doesn’t want to admit it, the ‘athi’ of Vijay’s dance and action is one obvious fact. Based on ‘the first impression is the best’, there are folks who want to argue that Ghilli is better than Okkadu, and also agree that Pokiri is far better than Pokkiri (Tamil). The Tamil folks are arguing that it should be from both sides just like the Telugu audience claim Pawan Kalyan’s Kushi is better than the original Kushi (Tamil).

It looks like a tweet about the release anniversary started a discussion, fan wars, and trolls that are still going on.
