Samyukta Menon, the actress from Kerala who dropped her surname in a show of equality, is making waves in Tollywood right now. She’s currently enjoying the success of her starring roles in Dhanush’s ‘Sir’ and previously Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Bhimla Nayak’, and Kalyan Ram’s ‘Bimbisara’. Her stellar performances and success rate have earned her the reputation of having a “golden leg” in the Telugu film industry.
Recently a large production house contacted her to take on a principal role in a major feature film, with an acclaimed actor. Her asking fee was reportedly more than one crore, which the producers felt was an exorbitant request given her experience. Despite these reservations, they were impressed by her success rate and so negotiated until both sides reached an agreement—though she has only taken main lead roles in her collaboration with Dhanush’s film ‘Sir’, whereas, in the other two movies, it was a supporting character.
Her upcoming film ‘Virupaksha’ with co-star Sai Dharam Tej is releasing this Friday. In addition to her other projects, she will be appearing in Kalyan Ram’s upcoming film, Devil. This marks the second time the duo have collaborated on a movie.
