Mani Ratnam’s Magnum Opus PS 1 was released in September last year. The second part is coming in just five days to theaters. In what appears to be a concern, the movie PS 2 is having a very low buzz due to a lack of aggressive promotions and that seems to be reflected in the advance sales also.
PS 1 managed to clock $504,226 in advance sales with more than 22,867 tickets sold in 340 locations back then. Compared to that, PS 2 has just $302,773 with around 12,000 tickets sold in 428 locations so far.
With just five days for the premieres PS 2 is severely underperforming with respect to advance sales and it has to be seen if it picks up before the release.
PS 2 has premiere shows on April 27 and Akhil’s Agent is releasing the same day as PS 2. Ponniyin Selvan 2 pre-release event will happen on Sunday in Hyderabad.
