The dream of Akhil’s fans is to see him as a Superstar after Agent comes crashing down. The Agent is being labeled as a ‘bore fest’ from all sections. More than Akhil’s choice of the storyline, the director Surender Reddy is being blamed for Agent’s output.
Agent is such a mission misfire that the movie is reminded of a nightmare from last year, Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger. Not one but many comparisons and similarities are popping up between Akhil’s Wild Saala agent and Saala Crossbreed Liger.
Agent is being called the Liger of Akhil, for its making and the overblown characterization of the protagonist. The word ‘Wild’ is so overused by Suri that it immediately reminds many about the ‘Saala crossbreed’ from Liger. When both Suri and Puri wanted their hero to be energetic and hyper, the result is this wild!
Both disasters share another factor, which is song placement. Liger had Akdi Pakdi song coming at the wrong time to irritate the audience who already is having a headache. Agent has the ‘Rama Krishna’ song barging into the second half to stay as a perfect example of the wrong placement of a song. Coincidentally, the last two songs of Agent have the lyrics ‘Govinda Govinda’ and ‘What the heck Wild Saala’, pretty much hinting at the result of Agent’s mission.
The biggest common thing both Liger and Agent have is that it is only glitter without substance in both movies. Surender Reddy was lucky to have Chiranjeevi and the historical backdrop for Sye Raa as far as the business in Telugu states is concerned. But for Agent, it is a free fall and Surender Reddy couldn’t escape the criticism due to lackluster job.
