Vanitha Vijaykumar, a Tamil actress and daughter of actor Vijaykumar, wrote an emotional note on her social media after the death of her ex-husband Peter Paul on April 29 in Chennai. The couple got married in June 2020, but Vanitha ended the marriage after just four months when she discovered that Peter Paul was still married to his first wife and had not divorced her.
Peter Paul’s first wife approached the media for help, which caused a controversy. He was also hospitalized for over a year due to excessive smoking and alcohol consumption, and Vanitha reportedly spent a lot of money on his treatment. Eventually, Vanitha walked out of the marriage, claiming that she had not known that Peter was still married.
In her social media post, Vanitha wrote, “My mom once taught me God helps those who help themselves. It’s definitely a lesson everyone should learn. When in crossroads, people make their own choices of path. I am sure you found peace after battling the demons you were facing and the trauma you went through. As sad as I feel for your parting from this world, I know you are definitely in a better place and you finally found ur peace be happy wherever you are.”
The next day, Vanitha shared a quote from author Nikki Banas on the importance of letting go. The quote reads, “At some point, you just have to let go and move on. It might be the hardest thing in the world to do, but you have to summon all of the strength you possibly can to finally let go. Some people and things just aren’t going to be meant for you, no matter how much you wish they were. Some jobs and situations just won’t work out, no matter how much you hoped they would. But, know that it’s okay for things to not work out. Nobody’s life is a straight line that makes perfect sense. Everybody has twists and turns, and everyone has to turn around every now and then. So when you find yourself wishing and hoping things out of your control would change, summon all of your strength to let go and start heading in a new direction because it’ll lead you closer to your true path.”
Peter Paul, a VFX editor in the Tamil film industry, had been undergoing treatment in hospital for over a year before his death. Vanitha’s marriage to Peter Paul was her third, and she had launched a popular YouTube channel during the Covid lockdown in 2020.
