The scale and budget of making movies are going upward, though only some of them are coming out with proper scripts and execution. A superhero in Bollywood appears to have hit the hard wall as the actors backed off from the project just like the first producer did.
The Immortal Ashwatthama is one big-budgeted Bollywood project many anticipated it becoming bigger than Brahmastra and any other B-town fantasy film. Uri Director Adithya Dhar worked on this script for more than five years and chose Vicky Kaushal as the lead hero and Sara Ali Khan as the female lead. The project had to be stopped due to Covid times.
Things changed post-covid. The director wanted to change the heroine from Sara Ali Khan to Samantha as the latter had a bigger market and scope. Samantha reportedly agreed to do it. Meanwhile, Things were not the same at the box office and the producer Ronnie Screwala walked out of the project as he did not want to risk everything.
Adithya Dhar finally managed to convince Mukesh Ambani after approaching many producers. Jio realized that Vicky Kaushal’s market wouldn’t justify the project and decided to replace him. Samantha called it quits as the project was not moving ahead.
In a hunt for star value, the director approached KGF star Yash and NTR too. Both of them were not interested and the director is heard to have asked Ranveer too. The actor who is already in plans to act in a Shaktimaan kind of superhero movie, refused gently.
The project’s pre-production work reportedly ate up 30 crore rupees already and the producers Jio are said to be contemplating backing off as they have to risk 350 crores if the movie materializes. Director Aditya Dhar seems to be working relentlessly to find a producer again!
