The controversy over the ‘The Kerala Story’ trailer snowballed into a bigger one now. The trailer had the main lead Adah Sharma’s character coming from a Hindu family and being converted to Islam as one of her classmates lures her in. It was claimed as a true story based on 32,000 women missing from Kerala.
The description of the trailer of ‘The Kerala Story’ earlier claimed 32,000 women from Kerala had joined the terror group ISIS, but now changed to the ‘true stories of three young girls from different parts of Kerala.’
The changes were made after the movie producers faced huge criticism for wrongly projecting the facts. According to the Union Home Ministry data, 62 young people from India have been identified who joined ISIS since 2014.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor who questioned the controversial claims of ‘The Kerala Story’ now says he rests his case as the filmmakers have updated the movie’s description.
The teaser that was released in 2022 November still says that it is ‘Heartbreaking and gut-wrenching stories of 32000 females in Kerala!’
It has to be seen if ‘The Kerala Story’ releases as the makers planned or if it has to go through a tough censor call.
