Remakes hold a special place in Tollywood, and when it comes to remakes, Venkatesh is one of the biggest names. Remake movies are notoriously risky; even slight changes can cost producers a fortune. Despite those risks, Venky has found success with his remake movies like Chanti, Suryavamsam and Raja, creating blockbuster hits and helping skyrocket his career.
Even as he reached an age typically considered to be over the hill for an actor, Venkatesh continued to excel at remakes such as Dhishya, Guru and Narappa. Although not all of his projects have been wildly successful, they still remain significant pieces in his portfolio.
Producer and his brother Suresh Babu have taken the initiative to bring a blockbuster Hindi remake of ‘De De Pyaar De’ to Telugu audiences. The movie stars Ajay Devgan and follows an entertaining story of love and its unexpected turns in the lives of three main characters: the husband, wife, and girlfriend. While it is quite a common theme, director Akil breathed new life into it with cleverly adapted modern references. After hearing rave reviews on Asuran, Venkatesh cancelled this project and acquired remake rights for that instead. Happily adapting the script with writers such as Gopi Mohan nearby, he also gave an advance to the artists before leaving it under Srivas’s direction. This movie marked triumphant success for Mr Devgan – here’s hoping for even bigger success for its Telugu counterpart!
Venkatesh is known for his family-friendly reputation. Therefore, he has chosen to avoid certain movies that may tarnish his image, opting instead to take roles in romantic comedies with two heroines. He wants to ensure he takes no unnecessary risks in order to maintain the positive hero status he has earned.
