Tollywood Missing The ‘Blockbuster’ Album!

Published by

Music is a critical component in generating hype and fervor for a movie. A film’s songs can either bolster or undermine the anticipation for its release. Especially in Tollywood, music plays a crucial role in the success of movies; because of this, we have a lot of Musical Hits in Telugu. We celebrate music as much as we celebrate film. But, the impact of music in the upcoming movies is less compared to the recent Sankranthi releases.

Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy depended on the music for the initial buzz. The songs did raise curiosity around the film, and there were even fans who watched the movie a second time only for the songs. Boss Party, Jai Balayya, and the other songs lifted the film’s hype.

Dhanush’s Sir also carried a couple of interesting songs. ‘Masteru Masteru’ song is still trending top on the charts, and it also helped the film gain a decent buzz.

Small-budgeted flick Balagam too, had the advantage of the audio album. Palletooru, Potti Pilla, and the other songs brought attention to the film.

Recently, Telugu movies have received mixed reactions to their music releases. For example, despite the Agent film unit’s release of two songs, they have yet to garner positive feedback from the audience. The fans hoped the film will become a hit but unfortunately, the movie also failed at the box office.

Similarly, the song release for Naga Chaitanya’s Custody could have impressed the audience, and the promotional material needs to work harder to pique viewers’ interest.

Regarding Samantha’s Shaakuntalam, the film also experienced a similar situation, with none of its songs resonating with the audience, leading to tepid responses during premier shows. Finally, after the film’s release, everyone disliked it.

In contrast, Raviteja’s Dhamaka benefited from the success of its songs, generating a lot of buzz for the film’s release. Conversely, Mass Maharaj’s Ravanasura failed to produce any hit songs, resulting in a low buzz for the film.

Kiran Abbavaram’s Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha and Meter failed to generate excitement around the movie, culminating in a disastrous opening day as the songs did not generate the much-needed hype.

Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha, Teja Sajja’s Hanuman, Gopichand’s Rama Baanam, and Santosh Sobhan’s Anni Manchi Sakunale are the recent notable releases in Telugu but none of the movies have caught attention with the music.

However, without a successful musical album, Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha survived well at the box office. Rama Baanam hit the screens the other day got negative reviews and none of the songs from the audio album clicked with the audiences. The other two movies are also still not finding the right buzz.

In the middle of all this, Jai Shri Ram song from the film Adipurush is creating a hype around the film but we have to see if it gets sustained.

The success of a film’s songs is a critical factor in determining the buzz and anticipation for its release. A hit song can create a lot of excitement and anticipation, while an underwhelming response to music can dampen the mood surrounding a film’s release.

Let us hope that the makers keep this element in mind as well.
