Akkineni Naga Chaitanya had a setback with the failures of Thank You and Custody. He is now aiming to bounce back hard with his next movie. The other day, we reported that Naga Chaitanya would soon team up with director Chandoo Mondeti for a new film. Allu Aravind will bankroll the project under his banner Geetha Arts.
If the latest grapevine is anything to go by, Chaitanya will play the role of a helmsman (boat driver or Thandel) in the movie. Apparently, the story is some decades back in Gujarat. It will be a romantic drama with a lot of twists and turns. We hear that Chandoo and his team have done extensive research for this script.
As it is a period drama, the makers are going to spend a lavish budget of more than Rs. 60 crores for this flick. More details about the project and the rest of the cast and crew will be announced soon.
If the project gets confirmed, it will be the third film in the combination of Chandoo and Chaitanya, after Premam and Savyasachi. After Karthikeya 2’s success, Chandoo became a pan-India director, and teaming up with him will also boost Chaitanya’s career at this point. Moreover, Chandoo plans to stick to Geetha Arts for one more project after this.
Whatever it may be, Chay wants Chandoo to work on this particular project under the Geetha Arts banner. A formal confirmation is expected to be out soon.
