Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has had a rough patch for the last few months. None of his films can strike a chord at the box office. Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, and Selfiee tanked at the box office in his last few films.
He pinned heavy hopes on one of his upcoming films, The Great Indian Rescue. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, this film is based on the real-life Coalfields incident where 64 miners were trapped in a coal mine. A person named Jaswant Singh saved all of them by risking his life. The film traces his story, and Akshay plays Jaswant’s role. Parineeti Chopra plays the female lead in it.
Recently, it was announced that The Great Indian Rescue will hit the screens on October 5. Just a week before, Prabhas’s Salaar will be released. This Prashanth Neel’s directorial will hit the theatres on September 28.
High expectations are riding on Salaar, and undeniably, it will get huge openings due to Prabhas and Neel’s pan-India stardom. Adipurush openings are an example of the same. If Salaar gets a positive talk, then Akshay’s film needs to get a super positive response to beat the former. So, we must see how Akshay tackles Prabhas’s box office power.
