Remixing old songs is not a new one, and ace producer-director Karan Johar always does that. From Aankh Maare in Simmba to Kya Baat Hai in the recent Govinda Naam Mera, to Vibe song’s remix Kudiyee Ni Teri in Selfiee, KJo’s productions always do have these remix numbers though people are crying foul about spoiling the essence of those vintage songs. Here comes his new one.
Today, the director-producer unveiled a new song from his upcoming project “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani”, which happens to be his own directorial film. Titled ‘What Jhumka’, the song is peppy, and catchy and the bass-sound design along with English and Hindi lyrics is an instant hit as it appealed positively to many music lovers. However, some vintage music lovers are now complaining that KJo has destroyed another old song.
Jhumka Gira Re is a yesteryear blockbuster song from the film Mera Saaya (1966), composed by the kind of melody, Madan Mohan and sung by Asha Bhonsle. Now the remix version, slightly altered and remixed by the super talented composer Pritam featured in Karan Johar’s latest film “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani”. While the original song is a ghazal and an item number, this new one is a dance number featuring the lead pair of the film, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
Whenever remixes appear, there is always this kind of comparison, but this time it looks like Karan Johar has a winner on hand.
