One of the most talked about controversies right now in the Telugu film industry is director Gunasekhar’s cryptic tweet on Rana’s announcement of Hiranyakashyap movie. In a way, it got conveyed that the director gave the ‘base story’ idea to Rana and Suresh Babu, and now they have kept the director aside, going with their own project based on the same story. Here comes clarity.
Apparently, Rana’s production house Spirit Media shared a concept sketch video of Hiranyakasyap, gave lots of details about the project. One of India’s leading storybook publishing houses Amar Chitra Katha joined as the producer of the film, and that indicates a fact that the story idea belongs to the book publisher.
‘Amar Chitra Katha’ published the story of “Prahlad” in 1973 as a comic book, and now they are turning that book into a visual effects-laced fantasy film, which will be narrated from the point of view of Hiranyakashyap, the demon king who is the father of Prahlada.
If the base story is rooted in Amar Chitra Katha’s book, then there is no point in Gunasekhar claiming that his idea got stolen. Also, the story of Narasimha Avatar of Lord Vishnu, and how he killed Hiranyakashyap to save the demon king’s son Prahlada, a hardcore devotee of Lord Vishnu, is an ancient one written in Hindu scriptures. So Rana has indirectly given clarity about the story and Gunasekhar’s tweet through this concept video, isn’t it?
