Director Turned Lyricist Spoiled The party!

Published by

Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha played the lead roles in the upcoming Telugu film Kushi. Shiva Nirvana is the film’s director, and the makers launched three songs so far, all of which have caught movie lovers’ attention. What’s most surprising is that the film’s director Shiva Nirvana has turned lyricist for the three songs, and this move opened to mixed reactions from the fans and netizens.

Hesham Abdul Waheb is the film’s music director who is marking his debut in Telugu cinema with this movie. Hesham shot to fame with the Malayalam film Hridayam. Spotting his talent, Shiva Nirvana insisted on him coming on board for Kushi. As expected, Hesham has lived up to the expectations, but Shiva’s lyrics for all the songs created a debate.

After Na Roja Nuvve and Aaradhya, the third single, which is the title track came out yesterday. The song was shot in Turkey. The visuals unfurl in opulence, a testament to the production’s grandeur. The song resonates with expressions of love, echoing the cherished words “Pyaar” and “Ashiki,” reminiscent of the emotions embraced by classic Hindi love stories. The title track carries a symphony of melodies that resonate deep within. In a unique approach, the creators have chosen to infuse each song with a distinct essence.

In all three songs, the sound quality, instrumentation, and song production are rich, but the lyrics for all three songs are put off. Many have found fault with unnecessarily using Hindi and English words in the songs to fill the tune and make the sound better. Many believed this was not poetry but an amateurish attempt at lyric writing. Had there been experienced lyrics like Ramajogaiah Sastry or Ananth Sriram, they would have done the right justice to Hesham’s tunes.

Today, these songs with Shiva Nirvana’s lyrics sound good and appear catchy, but only if it has depth in lyrics, will the songs remain forever in listeners’ hearts. That will happen only when a top-class lyricist is on board which is missing in the case of Kushi.

On the other hand, some of them liked the lyrics and expressed their awe for the hidden talent of the writer-director. Whatever it maybe, Kushi is a good musical album but it is not the best.
