Lyricist Krishna Chaitanya has turned director with Rowdy Fellow and later delivered Nithin’s Chal Mohan Ranga as well. As both these films happen to be flops, his third film took huge time to take off. While he travelled with Nithin for years, and later with Sharwanand, finally he’s doing a movie with Vishwak Sen for Sithara Entertainment.
This new film of Vishwak Sen which features Meenakshi Chaudhary and Anjali as the leads, is getting titled “Gangs Of Godavari”. Though the director and the film’s production house sources are claiming that the story Krishna Chaitanya narrated to Nithin is different, this title is confirming a connection. When he was doing the film with Nithin, it was titled Powerpeta, the name of a locality from Krishna Chaitanya’s hometown, Eluru (West Godavari). Now that it is named “Gangs Of Godavari”, one can understand that even Vishwak Sen’s movie deals with the same story of thugs and politics of the 1980s Eluru and Godavari region.
On that note, the title Gangs of Godavari closely resembles Anurag Kashyap’s superhit film series, Gangs Of Wasseypur, which in turn has its title inspired by Martin Scorsesse’s Gangs Of New York. We have to see if Vishwak Sen’s swag and the mighty Godavari touch will deliver a hit film for all the talents involved.
