Aamir Khan’s movie “Laal Singh Chaddha,” released in August 2022 and starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, failed to impact the box office significantly and received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Aamir’s cousin and director, Mansoor Khan, has revealed that even acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli had informed Aamir that he was ‘overacting’ in the film.
Mansoor Khan, who directed Aamir in his superhit debut “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” and has recently published a book titled “One: The Story of the Ultimate Myth,” shared insights into his conversation with Aamir about the film.
Mansoor mentioned that he had told Aamir that his acting in the Bollywood adaptation of “Forrest Gump” was ‘over the top.’ However, it was Rajamouli’s opinion that truly made an impact. Rajamouli, known for his grand productions like “Baahubali” and “RRR,” expressed that Aamir’s acting seemed overdone, which resonated with Aamir.
Mansoor said he liked the script and praised the writing but felt that Aamir had gone too far with his expressions. Unlike what Aamir had portrayed, he believed the character didn’t need excessive gestures and expressions. Mansoor shared his perspective with Aamir and cited Tom Hanks’ minimalistic portrayal in the original “Forrest Gump” as an example of effective acting.
