National Award: Nani is heartbroken

The 69th National Film Awards announcement was held on August 24 brought forth disappointment, reflecting on certain outcomes. One film that notably failed to secure any accolades was Suriya’s courtroom drama ‘Jai Bhim’. Not just the fans but celebrities are also unhappy with the same. Natural Star Nani took to his Instagram stories to express the same.

Alongside the film’s title, he added a red broken heart emoji, reflecting his feelings of shock and disappointment over the film’s lack of recognition.

Released in 2021, ‘Jai Bhim’ was among the most prominent blockbusters of that year. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the movie resonated with audiences and was anticipated to shine in categories like Best Tamil Film. However, the award in this category was secured by Manikandan’s film ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’, leaving fans surprised.

Moreover, Suriya’s portrayal of real-life advocate Chandru, who embarks on a mission to deliver justice to a tribal woman despite daunting challenges, had also garnered expectations for the Best Actor Award. Yet, this year, the coveted National Best Actor Award was claimed by Allu Arjun for his role in ‘Pushpa: The Rise’.

The film ‘Jai Bhim’ was inspired by true events from Tamil Nadu in the 1990s. Alongside Suriya, the film featured a talented ensemble cast including Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
