Advance bookings for highly anticipated movies usually kick off early to ensure packed theaters on opening day. The anticipation generated by pre-release buzz leads to thousands deciding to watch the film right from day one. However, the situation with Vijay Devarakonda’s Khushi is quite different. Online bookings for the film haven’t begun yet, and it has been officially announced that they will only start at 10 am on August 30. This leaves only a mere forty-five hours before the first show, a remarkably short timeframe.
Such delayed bookings can be risky in the current scenario. Khushi is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and will be self-distributed. According to trade insiders, the delay in finalizing agreements with exhibitors in the Nizam area for shipments has led to this sluggish booking process. Despite ongoing discussions, the agreements were not promptly concluded, resulting in the delayed start of online sales.
Although these issues are expected to be resolved, the timing is critical to converting the positive buzz around Khushi into significant box office openings. After “Jailer,” there hasn’t been a resounding box office success, and even the moderate success of “Bedurulanka 2012” was limited to just a Sunday. To reinvigorate theaters, the audience must perceive Khushi as a blockbuster.
The combination of Vijay Devarakonda, Samantha, and director Shiva Nirvana, along with Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music, has generated excitement among family audiences. It’s crucial to sustain this buzz to ensure the film’s success. The outcome remains to be seen.
