Events no doubt garner good buzz for a film. But are they being overdone? Are producers over-spending on the events of late? If we consider two of the recent very big events of Tollywood – Kushi musical concert and Skanda pre-release event. Whilst Kushi cost about a whopping Rs 3 crore, whereas Skanda event cost estimated to be 75 lakh including Thaman live music concert.
Skanda event has Thaman & co’s live music concert for which top singers like Arman Malik and others were flown down along with the well-known technicians. Their remunerations, travel, entourage and stay costed huge for the makers. Same is the case with Kushi. Instead of the pre-release event, producers are convinced to do a massive musical concert costing Rs 3 crore. One of the country’s top drone operators was brought onboard for this do. No doubt, Kushi event have garnered decent buzz for the film.
However, Thaman’s live music concert in Skanda event, the buzz generated is not worth the amount splurged by the makers. Apparently, producers are left with no choice but to burn their pockets in a big way. Had the makers were prudent and the money was better-spent, it would have garnered better hype for the film.
The producers and the actors have realised the film’s promotion and marketing which is a really welcome change. No doubt, the promotions play an equal role along with the film’s content. The film’s opening day collections are relying on the noise the respective films make. All these are resulting in some forces making producers over-spent on the events. If the teams come up with cost-effective methods, it would be good for the producers as well.
On the other hand, a film like Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty too witnessed a lot of tours where hero Naveen Polishetty actively promoting the film on his shoulders. Vijay Deverakonda too actively toured for Kushi and visited colleges to promote the film. He took part in live Q&A to make strong noise on social media platforms. These are all laudable.
