The teaser of Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageswara Rao landed in legal hot waters due to its wordplay that alludes to a specific social class, sparking a new controversy. The matter reached the AP High Court, which swiftly responded by commenting on the teaser’s insensitive nature, particularly its potential insult to the residents of the Stuartpuram area.
The court expressed displeasure over the teaser’s release without obtaining a Central Board film certificate, questioning the production company’s lack of social responsibility. Film producer Abhishek Agarwal received notices as a consequence of this legal ordeal.
Chukka Palraj, the petitioner, filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court, asserting that Tiger Nageswara Rao’s movie is not only demeaning to the sentiments of the “Erukula” community but also damaging to the reputation of the villagers of Stuartupuram.
In response, the petitioner was instructed to include the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification in Mumbai as a respondent in the case. This step aimed to address the objections raised and offer a platform for concerns to be voiced.
The arguments presented during the hearing on Wednesday were put forth by advocates Ankala Prithviraj and Sringarapati Karthik on behalf of the petitioner.
