‘800’, the biopic of iconic Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, is up for a grand theatrical release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English in the month of October. Its trailer is out.
“Are you a Tamilian or a Sinhalese?” a character asks Madhur Mittal (Muralitharan). “I am a cricketer,” he replies with conviction towards the end of the trailer. At more than three minutes, the trailer packs interesting elements and doesn’t buck controversial issues like the chucking controversy in Australia. The inner turmoil experienced by the legendary bowler in the late 1990s has been brought out well by director MS Sripathy.
The civil war in Sri Lanka, the ups and downs in the cricketer’s career, and the conversations in his personal life will be depicted dramatically in the film.
Senior Tollywood producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad of Sridevi Movies owns the film’s rights across languages. If the trailer is any indication, ‘800’ is going to stump us.
Mahima Nambiar will be seen as the bowler’s onscreen wife. Naren, Nassar, Vela Ramamoorthy, Riythvika, Vadivukkarasi, Arul Das, and others have also acted in the movie. The film’s trailer was released today in the presence of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
