The stage is set for an intriguing box office clash tomorrow between Shah Rukh Khan’s dubbed movie “Jawaan” and Naveen Polishetty’s “Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty.”
Despite “Jawaan” being a dubbed film, the advance bookings are comparable to those of leading Telugu stars in the Telugu states. In several places, morning shows at 7 o’clock are already sold out, showcasing the immense craze for Shah Rukh Khan. It’s noteworthy that even though “Pathan” generated hype when it released in January, it hasn’t reached the same level of excitement in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions, indicating the varying reach of the respective trailers and content.
Producers believe that “Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty” will give a tough competition with its well-planned and calm promotion strategy, even in the absence of Anushka. Naveen Polishetty has shouldered the entire publicity campaign effectively. The film, directed by Mahesh Babu, explores a unique love story between a stand-up comedian and an older lady chef. Promotional campaigns featuring stars like Prabhas and Ram Charan, participating in a cooking challenge, have been instrumental in generating buzz. Anushka is conducting phone interviews to contribute to the film’s promotion.
One common factor between these two movies is the underperformance of Vijay Devarakonda’s “Khushi,” which witnessed a significant drop, despite a strong start in the first three days. This decline is a cause for concern in the industry.
However, both “Jawaan” and “Miss Shetty” face another common challenge – heavy rains in the Nizam region, which have also brought colder weather to Andhra Pradesh. The unpredictable weather could impact the turnout at the theaters.
In just 24 hours, we will have a clearer picture of who will emerge victorious in the clash between Class and Mass at the box office.
