Vijay Devarakonda, Samantha’s “Kushi,” which initially garnered significant attention in its first three days post-release, has encountered a noticeable decline in box office performance since Monday, raising concerns within the film industry.
Despite the actor’s announcement of distributing one lakh rupees to 100 families during a grand success meet, this gesture did not seem to significantly impact the film’s collections.
Fans are now waiting to see if “Kushi” can make a comeback in the next weekend, especially if the new releases receive mixed reviews. However, the film faces stiff competition from the recent releases. “Jawan” received blockbuster reviews and is expected to perform well throughout its first week, particularly in non-Hindi Telugu regions. Shah Rukh Khan’s film is also enjoying strong collections in Andhra Pradesh, while “Miss Shetty,” featuring Naveen Polishetty’s humor and Anushka Shetty’s return to the screen, is attracting audiences to theaters.
Given these circumstances, it won’t be easy for “Kushi” to regain its momentum. Many theaters have already allocated premiere screens for other films in the second week, making it essential for “Kushi” to fill at least half of its screenings. Failure to do so may result in losses, as the break-even point appears challenging to achieve unless there is an unexpected surge in collections on Saturday and Sunday.
The film needs an additional 15 crores to break even, and with “Chandramukhi 2” and “Mark Antony” scheduled for release on September 15, the window of opportunity for “Kushi” to recover is limited, and its future remains uncertain.
